A Remedy for Skin Itch In Dialysis

A Remedy for Skin Itch In Dialysis

Hi, can you suggest a remedy for skin itch in dialysis patients?

Hi, can I know who is the patient?

My husband

He can try foot or milk bath or apply some warm water to his skin before going to bed. How about his phosphorus level? Is that high?

Ok I do not know at the moment. He might go and see his GP tomorrow.

When did he begin dialysis?

3 years

Does he pass urine?

Just a little bit

I see. How about his creatinine level?

It is 762umol/L.

Is creatinine level 762umol/L after dialysis?

The blood test was done 2 weeks ago on a non-dialysis day. He does his blood test after every 3 weeks.

Ok got it. As for itchy skin in dialysis, our hospital recommends the following remedies:

1. Lower high phosphorus level

A common cause of itchy skin is high levels of phosphorus in the body. Dialysis replaces injured kidneys to discharge phosphorus out of your body. However, dialysis does not effectively remove phosphorus. A renal diet that restricts foods high in phosphorus is required. Staying on dialysis for your full treatment time is also recommended because it can remove some phosphorus as well as other wastes and toxins.

2. Treat allergies

If you have allergy to the blood tubing, dialyzer, the type of heparin being used or other elements associated with the treatment, itchy skin can also occur. Antihistamines are used to treat allergies and have helped to relieve itching.

3. Improve your own renal function

The radical therapy for your condition is to improve your own renal function. Our hospital adopts a series of unique Chinese medicine treatments like Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Medicated Bath, Medicinal Soup, Medicated Foot Bath, Mai Kang Mixture, Moxibustion Therapy, Umbilical Therapy and Enema Therapy, etc. The treatment principle is before treating kidney disease, toxins and wastes should be discharged first. Toxins vanish and then kidney disease can be managed well. Our Chinese medicine treatments can purify your blood effectively and then repair injured kidney tissues through dilating blood vessels, improving blood circulation, preventing inflammation and coagulation, degrading extracellular matrix and providing nutrients. Only when your own renal function is improved can itchy skin disappear radically. Also it is possible for you to reduce dialysis times or even avoid dialysis.

Do not be afraid. Just take timely treatment to repair your own kidneys. You will get a better result.
